Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does sending money through Hoa Phat work?
A: Online – First, you would have to register for an account with Hoa Phat. Once we have verified your information, you will be able to send money to anybody, anywhere, in Vietnam. Make sure you have all the necessary information of the recipient for fast and safe delivery. You will also have the option to save recipients' addresses for a faster and easier way to send money in the future. The key to the service that Hoa Phat provides is the relationship we want to have with you. Once we've developed a relationship, sending money to loved ones in Vietnam is only a "click" away. Once you've sent money through us, you will not want to go anywhere else. Offline – You also have the option of sending money offline. Just buy a cashier's check through one of your local banks or get a money order and send it to us with complete details of the recipient's address and telephone information. Once we've received it, and verified the funds, we will send the money to your relatives in Vietnam. It's that simple.

Q: How much does it cost? What are the fees?
A: Typically, the fees are 2% to Saigon, 3% to the outer regions of Saigon and anywhere in the South and Central regions, and 4% in the North. (These fees are typically applied to transactions between $200 and $900. Fees may increase or decrease slightly if you send less than $200 or more than $900)

Q: What information do I need to send money through Hoa Phat?
A: It is very important that you provide us with as much detailed information as possible. Address in Vietnam could be very tricky, so please provide us with specific home numbers, street names, ward, districts, city, province, phone numbers, etc. Also, if you all for more than one recipient (i.e. husband or wife if one or the other is not home), please specify it.

Q: How long does it take until my family receives the money?
A: Sending money by cash at any of our store locations will only take 1 day for delivery. When sending money online, once we have verified your funds (may take anywhere from 1 to 7 business days depending on your bank or credit card companies) it normally takes less than 24 hours before your family receives the money.

Q: Which currencies can be received?
A: We guarantee to deliver new U.S. dollars to your recipients. If you happen to send money to a place we cannot deliver (to any islands or far northern parts of VN), we will exchange it to VN Dongs according to the exchange rate of that day, and deliver by Vietnamese dongs.

Q: Who delivers the money to my recipients?
A: Our delivery agents are trained and experienced, having specialized in money delivery since the 80s and 90s. Our agents are safe, discreet, honest and experienced. Unlike other online services, we guarantee to deliver the funds straight to your home of your loved ones.

Q: How do I know the recipient has received money?
A: Once we have delivered the money, you will receive a confirmation receipt with the signature of the recipient and his/her identification number.

Q: Can I track my transaction?
A: Once you make a transaction, you will be given a transaction number, and it will be emailed to you. With this transaction number, you can track the progress of your case from the beginning to when your family receives the money.

Q: Why can't I see my newly-created recipients in my address book to send money?
A: It typically takes anywhere from 1-24 hours for our staff to verify and approve a recipient before you are actually able to send a case. This process is in place so that we can verify the recipient’s address and calculate the proper transfer fee. So, after you created a new recipient in your address book, please check back in 24 hours, you will find that that recipient is approved. Now, you can send money to this person!

Q: In my address book, what does status active, pending and locked mean?
A: ACTIVE recipients in your address book means this recipient and his/her address has been approved, and you can start sending money to this person. PENDING recipients means Hoa Phat still needs to verify this recipient. You need to wait anywhere from 1-24 hours for Hoa Phat to approve a receiver. LOCKED receivers means you cannot change this recipient's address because this case is being delivered (If a case is being delivered, you cannot modify the address until the case is closed).
